Executive Airport's largest operator is expanding again

Tour the tarmac at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, and in all directions is the shade of a Banyan.

Banyan Air Services, Inc. is already the largest fixed base operator at the city-owned airport -- and now it's growing again.

Construction began in December on two 18,000 square-foot, aircraft storage hangars due to be completed in May. Each hangar will also have nearly 6,000 square-feet of office space. Once built, the hangars will stand side by side on the airfield and will be located about 50 feet west of the existing Banyan Terminal.

What separates Banyan from its competitors on the airfield is the size of its facility, its ramp space, number of hangars, amount of employees and variety of services offered from one spot.

"No other FBOs at the airport come close to what services we have and other large FBOs may have about 30 employees and smaller ones may have 10 to 20 employees," said Don Campion, founder, president and owner of Banyan Air Services.
