Volunteerism leads dentist to AIDS fund-raiser.

Dentist Kevin Terrell set up private practice in Plano in 1994, but by the next year he was searching for something more fulfilling. He began offering his services at Stewpot, a homeless shelter in Dallas.

"I would go into the homeless shelters and they would be appreciative just to have a tooth pulled or a cavity filled," he said. "I found it to be more challenging than what I did in private practice all week. So I quit private practice and started working for dental programs in Dallas that treat indigent patients."
