TOYONAKA, Osaka -- A real estate company has decided to dismantle a nearly complete condominium it had been building here after excessive amounts of toxic substances were found at the site, it was learned Saturday.
The discontinuation of the construction will likely cause the company, the Tokyo-based Nomura Real Estate Development Co., hundreds of millions of yen in losses, company officials said.
"We took into consideration possible impacts that the chemicals may have on prospective residents's health in making the decision," an official of the company said.
