A new bridge, connecting North Portland and Hayden Island and designed to improve transportation to and from Port of Portland property, is wending its way through the approval process.

The bridge would cost nearly $50 million and would be built near an area where traffic is worsening and planners are searching for a why to alleviate congestion. But, as plans stand now, the port bridge would not continue across the river to Vancouver, Wash., a move that some people are questioning.
