MARKET DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: This notice from USDA announces the availability of funds of $27.5 million for the Fiscal Year 2001 Foreign Market Development Cooperator Program. The program is designed to create, expand, and maintain foreign markets for United States agricultural commodities and products through cost-share assistance. To participate in the Cooperator program, an applicant must be a nonprofit U.S. agricultural trade organization. MARKET ACCESS PROGRAM: Funds of $90 million will be available for the Fiscal Year 2000 Market Access Program (MAP). The MAP is designed to create, expand, and maintain foreign markets for United States agricultural commodities and products through cost-share assistance. Under the MAP, USDA enters into agreements with eligible participants to share the costs of certain overseas marketing and promotion activities. MAP participants may receive assistance for either generic or brand promotion activities. The program generally operates on a reimbursement basis.
