FEW years ago, Seremban-born Terence Dorairaj ended up working in a fish trawler that operated off the coast of Alaska. The work was tough, but he did it anyway because it paid well and also gave him time to ponder about his career path, which then appeared to be heading nowhere.

A few weeks later, he left Alaska and after a short stint with a telecommunications company in Washington, he took up a post in the now legendary Internet company, Amazon.com.

At Amazon, his career path reads as follows - information specialist, order specialist, trainer and special project management executive. He was doing well at Amazon and thought that he had finally found his calling.

Then, fate intervened and personal reasons forced him to leave the United States, where he had resided for 10 years.
