Alcoa CEO likely to move to NYC; will corporate headquarters follow?

Company spokesperson denies that Alain Belda will relocate

NORTH SIDE -- By the end of next year, the North Side Alcoa Corporate Center could be a headquarters in name only.

Several analysts believe the announcement that Alcoa is leasing space in Midtown Manhattan foreshadows a plan for company president and CEO Alain Belda to move to the Big Apple.

"I don't think there's any question that the president/CEO will move to New York" said J. Clarence Morrison, an industry analyst with Prudential Securities. "I think there's no question (Mr. Belda) does prefer New York to Pittsburgh. I think most executives would."
