Unisys has acquired Publishing Partners International (PPI) to obtain an advertising system to go with its editorial and archival systems for newspapers. The terms of the deal, which is effective immediately, weren't disclosed. Unisys plans to retain PPI's staff in its current location in Bedford, NH, where it will serve as the foundation of an expanding advertising operation. David Phillips will move from Unisys UK to run the U.S. advertising operation.

Phillips has his roots on the programming side of the business and should be equipped to take on the task of running the R&D operation in Bedford, as well as other aspects of the business. He has also been involved in large system sales (e.g., UK sales) and with standards-based systems such as PPI's.
