NEW DELHI, Jan. 5

IN what is a pioneering attempt in the domestic battery market, the Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL) today announced the launch of its Amaron brand of hi-life automotive batteries.

ARBL is part of a global supply alliance that includes Johnson Controls Inc (JCI), Varta AG of Europe and Enertec, JCI's joint venture partner in South America and Mexico. ARBL enjoys 23 per cent equity from JCI, and claims to be the technology leader in the Indian storage battery industry.

Besides, it is the leading player in the stand-by valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery segment, with a 40 per cent market share.
