The Variable-Data Printing Initiative Group met for an update

Other than the introduction of PageFlex Designer (see following article), there wasn't much action on the show floor during the Seybold Seminars recent event in Boston; however, in a meeting off the show floor, members of the Variable Data Printing Initiative (VDPI) met for the second time. This group, which encompasses several key players in the variable-data market, is seeking to create a standard that will ultimately determine the direction of variable-data programs.

The VDPI was created within the Print on Demand Initiative (PODI) to provide market research, promote interoperability and encourage an open forum of discussion among sponsoring members. The VDPI members are Adobe Systems, Barco Graphics, Bitstream, Electronics for Imaging, Indigo, Heidelberg's NexPress unit, Scitex, the U.S. Postal Service, Xeikon and Xerox.
