DALLAS, TX -- Manitowoc Co. (Manitowoc, WI) introduced the "QuietQube," billed as a breakthrough in remote ice machine systems for foodservice, retail, and hospitality applications that call for a quieter approach to making ice.
The announcement was made at a press briefing during the NAFEM trade show here.
According to Greg McDougal, director of e-commerce, the QuietQube machines were designed specifically for "quick-serve restaurants, convenience stores, hotels, resorts -- anywhere you need to remove the noise of the ice machine from customers and employees."
The units are 24 in. high by 30 in. wide, and can produce up to 1,400 lb of ice, according to Bill Clark, product marketing manager. According to Clark, the system offers a 12-point reduction in sound decibels from the traditional self-contained unit.
"The QuietQube is 75% quieter than standard remotes, due to the fact that both the compressor and the condenser fan motor are housed in the remote condensing unit and are removed from the customer environment."
The system also features Manitowoc's CVD cool vapor defrost technology that uses cool vapor rather than hot gas to make ice in remote systems.
