Joe McLaughlin, sales representative for Napoleon Fireplaces, said that contractors are leaving a lot of money in customer's homes that could be theirs.

"Contractors are making the hook-ups [of the gas lines], but they can't make any money doing this," he said. "They can sell the product and make a nice profit.

"An average contractor can probably sell 10 to 20 fireplaces in their first year, which can add up to $20,000 in profits."

McLaughlin said most contractors don't have the space to set up a showroom with individual models, so he offered a couple of suggestions.
