My sister, Sandy Cooper, has two master's degrees and is principal of an elementary school. She makes more than $60,000 a year and manages 165 employees. Clearly, she can stand on her own.

But, when she recently ambled into an auto dealership to buy a new car, the salesman told her to come back with her husband.

The tragedy of this is not just that someone was picking on my little sister, but that an auto dealership, who undoubtedly spends a boatload of money in advertising to bring prospects through their door, lost this sale because of a chauvinistic salesman. Guess how many of Sandy's staff heard this story?
