Capitol Hill's Broadway Market -- easily the most pierced, tattooed and green-haired shopping center around -- has sold for $23 million.
Developer Val Thomas, who bought and renovated the historic market in 1986, sold the full-block property to Madison Marquette Realty. The Ohio developer's only other Seattle activity to date brought Old Navy into the former I. Magnin store in downtown Seattle.
The project -- which began in 1926 as a collection of merchants selling out of individual stalls -- includes 30 apartments, a 230-car parking garage and 100,000 square feet of retail space.
