St. Charles appears poised to get a convention center and hotel complex, 11 years after the idea first surfaced.
The city has given developers until Oct. 1 to respond to requests for proposals on the plan. Mayor Patti York said more than a dozen firms had picked up packets of information on the project by Sept. 17.
The total project, estimated at about $39 million, would provide a substantial return on investment, said Steve Powell, director of the Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau.
