YEAR 2005. That's when Bacardi Martini hopes to break even in the Indian spirits market. The $3-billion international liquor giant is keen on expanding its brand portfolio here, but may wait till its business achieves "a critical mass".

Bacardi Martini India Ltd arrived in March 1998 with its white rum and is currently in the midst of adding a dark rum to its product range. Priced at Rs. 385, the dark rum is now being made available in Mumbai before it heads to Bangalore for an October 26 launch. "Bacardi is here to stay.
