BUCHANAN:MI_The borders of America's political parties are too tight for Pat Buchanan, who broke away from the GOP Monday with a fire-breathing shot at ``the hollow men'' running for president. But here comes rough going: A larger-than-life fight for the nomination of a ragtag Reform Party that may get ``The Donald'' Trump for a candidate too.

Buchanan, with his isolationist views _ he proposed ``a time out for legal immigration'' Monday _ is extreme. And Jesse Ventura? Forget it, he says Monday. He's happy ``protecting the borders of Minnesota.''

A circus looming? No way, says Florida's Jack Gargan, incoming Reform Party chairman. ``What the heck would people expect of us, a politician for crying out loud? ... We're middle America, and if we're a circus, so is middle America.''
