Law firm seeks more tech clients after Monterey link.(O'Banion and Ritchey)

O'Banion & Ritchey, a small law firm in Sacramento that's carved out a niche in intellectual property law, is teaming up with a Monterey firm to broaden its ability to represent high-technology clients.

This action follows a similar move by the Sacramento patent law firm of Hall & Kerr, which merged with the Sierra Patent Group in Stateline, Nev., early this summer in an effort to expand its client base here and elsewhere. Davis attorney Victor Gallo joined Sierra Patent in August.

Intellectual property law is in flux these days as lawyers position themselves to tap into growth of the bio-tech and high-tech industries and increased use of the Internet.
