Just back from a week in Paris, during which I did little but look at art and eat. I'd reached a birthday milestone (you know, one of the ones that end in a zero) and this was by way of a treat from the Resident Love Goddess, as another famous columnist used to call his helpmeet. Banking, of course, was the furthest thing from my mind, except for the occasional twinge about paying for the trip. But I did make one observation.
