Oct. 17-23: Teen Read Week. "Reading Rocks!" is the theme for this second annual event, sponsored by ALA's Young Adult Library Services Association. A tip sheet for libraries with ideas and suggestions for promoting teen reading, as well as camera-ready art and sample press materials, is available on the ALA Web page at www.ala.org/teenread/. Promotional materials with the "Reading Rocks!" slogan are featured in the ALA Graphics Spring Catalog. LIVE! At The Library: Presented by ALA's Public Programs Office, these events are a national training program to help librarians develop and support programs that bring cultural events, such as author readings, book discussions, and performances, to their libraries. The remaining events scheduled for 1999 will be held Sept. 24 in White Plains, New York, and Nov. 12 in Palm Springs, California. As a preconference to the Public Library Association annual conference, another event will be held Mar. 28, 2000, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
