Toshiba Stroke Research Center at UB wants to bring companies along to manufacture pioneering devices

Scientists at the Toshiba Stroke Research Center might be doing more than developing solutions for potential stroke sufferers. Their work could eventually strengthen Buffalo's economy.

The researchers, based at the center on the University of Buffalo city campus, are engaged in the design and development of devices so small that they can travel into the brain via the body's vascular system. The devices are intended for use in minimally invasive techniques for the detection and treatment of pre-stroke conditions, which are likely to be a preferred alternative to surgery.
