The United Steelworkers of America has dropped its organizing drive at J&L Fiber Services Inc. but is still pursuing an unfair labor practices allegation against the Waukesha manufacturer.
The Steelworkers last month withdrew a petition with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) seeking a union recognition election for 162 workers at J&L, said Irv Gottschalk, assistant regional director of the board's Milwaukee region.
The union didn't provide any explanation for the move, he said. Union officials were unavailable for comment.
