NEW DELHI, July 21

EXPRESSING satisfaction at the state of the banking industry after his three-year tenure at the helm of the Banking Division of the Ministry of Finance, the outgoing Special Secretary (Banking), Mr. C. M. Vasudev, said the immediate priority of the Government should be to tackle the problem of the remaining few weak banks and to find a way to enable the other banks to raise capital on an on-going basis.

Mr. Vasudev, who has been appointed as the Secretary (Expenditure), as part of the Secretary-level reshuffle, would be taking over his new charge on Thursday.
