KUCHING - Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi assured that rural development would be speeded up and that urban areas would be turned into a dynamic, vibrant and prosperous regional centre.

"This endeavour would be successful with a good network of communicable road system," he said when opening the RM120-million Kuching Outer Ring Road at Kota Samarahan, about 10 kms from here today.

He added that with the availability of administrative, business and trade services in Kuching similar to that in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, small and medium-sized industries would be expanded.
