KUCHING - Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said here yesterday that the government has to resort to new methods to enable the lower income group in the country to own affordable homes.

He said the move was deemed as necessary as although the present low-cost homes are already available for this group, most are still unable to make a purchase.

"The government understands that it is quite difficult (to own a home) and therefore, we are now building core houses in which there will be a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom in a unit. The point is …
