Florida State University has created the first endowed chair in its School of Information Studies (SIS)--the first of ten endowed chairs the university will create with money made available by FSU's patent on the cancer-fighting drug Taxol. The chair, which will be known as the Francis Eppes Professor of Information Studies, includes an annual stipend of $40,000 to be used by the Eppes Professor at his or her discretion, said Dean of Information Studies Jane Robbins.
