MUMBAI, June 26

INTERNATIONAL Finance Corporation (IFC) is in talks to pick up equity stake in the Bangalore-based Vysya Bank and Karur-based Karur Vysya Bank Ltd, banking sources said.

Although talks are in the preliminary stage, IFC, which already has investment in some banks, seems to be serious about picking up stake in these banks.

When contacted, officials said the bank boards were yet to take a firm view.

For IFC, this forms a part of investments in the financial sector in the developing countries. These funds are expected to help the Indian private banks to strengthen their capital adequacy and participate in …
