CHENNAI, June 16

THE crew of a 5,000-tonne vessel of the Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI), m.v. Diglipur, were forced to abandon ship after the vessel sprung a leak, SCI sources said.

All the 35 members of the crew are reported to be safe and have been picked up by another vessel, ICL Parthiban, belonging to India Cements Ltd. They are expected to reach Port Blair on Thursday.
