Troubling the Angels is the work of two women--one an academic, the other a clinical psychologist--with the primary intent of offering us the opportunity to hear HIV-positive women's stories. These stories originated from support groups led by the authors who present them to us so that we can understand the "cultural meanings and social ramifications" of being a woman living with HIV. The outcome of this endeavor can best be judged by the needs or inclinations of the individual reader: The book is either a quick read or one to be perused carefully and thoughtfully.
