The University of Waterloo Student ACM SIGCHI Chapter was officially chartered last February and is the first student chapter affiliated with SIGCHI. Its founding members are students Henry Chen and Farouk Meghji. In an interview with ACMember-Net, Chair Henry Chen discussed the impetus for starting a chapter. "Last summer we realized that there were many different faculties at Waterloo involved in human-computer interaction (HCI) issues but there wasn't a formal organization for communicating between these groups.
