Jun. 10 -- Pennsylvania yesterday moved closer to becoming the first state to inject money into the delicate issue of organ donation.

The state's Organ Donor Advisory Committee recommended yesterday that the secretary of the Department of Health approve a three-year pilot program to pay each family of an organ donor $300 toward funeral expenses. Acting Secretary Robert Zimmerman is expected to decide whether to implement the legislative proposal this fall. If he approves it, the state could start mailing checks this winter.

The money would be sent directly to the family's funeral home to be used for funeral…
