A Web site will emerge this summer that links pending software projects with global developers in the open-source milieu. The site's aim is to steer such efforts to where enterprise vendors think they are needed most.

Hewlett-Packard and O'Reilly & Associates said last week that they have teamed up to create the SourceXchange site as a way to leverage the expertise of open-source developers on behalf of project sponsors.

The site (at www.sourcexchange.com) will launch in beta form in July. As an affiliate of O'Reilly & Associates, the site will begin its novel approach to prioritizing development projects with an initial array of open-source development …
