Following the example of the U.K., Internet service providers (ISPs) in Denmark have begun offering users Internet access without requiring them to pay a subscription fee.

Tele2 A/S, a carrier based in Valby, Denmark, has sent a free CD-ROM to every Danish household, hoping to reach as many of Denmark's 2.4 million population as possible with its new free Internet offer. Tele2 joins a handful of other carriers who have launched similar offers this year, including former monopoly carrier Tele Danmark A/S, France Telecom SA subsidiary Mobilix, Telia AB, and the independent ISP, Cybercity Internet ApS.
