PHNOM PENH, May 11 (Bernama-Kyodo) -- The United Nations has accepted a Cambodian court trial for Khmer Rouge leaders responsible for genocide committed in late 1970s, but with the participation of international legal experts, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, president of the national assembly, told Kyodo News today.
The Prince said the United Nations is satisfied with domestic courts trying the Khmer Rouge leaders, provided they can meet international standards, which "means (that) Cambodian courts can proceed with the case, but they need the presence of international judges."
