The Orlando law firm of Broad and Cassel is fortifying its presence in the Tampa Bay area by hiring two more local attorneys, including governmental affairs and land-use specialist Russell S. Thomas.

Broad and Cassel's moves are part of a trend among major statewide law firms to concentrate on Tampa Bay as a potentially lucrative market for expanding their legal services.

Since establishing its Tampa office in 1994, Broad and Cassel has increased to 10 the number of its local legal staff. While still a relatively small branch operation, the firm is banking on the hirings to strengthen existing links between its Orlando and Tampa offices.
