URUMQI, March 31 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will use World Bank funds to implement a programme designed to prevent the spread of the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) and venereal diseases in June.
The programme will be carried out with World Bank funding of US$4.55 million and regional government allocations of US$3 million.
The funds will be used to monitor and control AIDS in Urumqi, the regional capital, as well as the Ili and Bayangol Mongolian autonomous prefectures, and 15 counties and cities.
