CLERMONT - Wal-Mart is pushing ahead with plans for a Clermont superstore, despite a host of concerns surrounding the retail giant's chosen site.

Just days ago, Wal-Mart hired Orlando lawyer Hal Kantor to represent the company in its negotiations with the city of Clermont. He faces an uphill battle with city leaders, who are balking at plans to put the $8 million, 212,839-square-foot Wal-Mart Supercenter on a site near the busy intersection of State Road 50 and U.S. Highway 27.

Even so, Kantor is optimistic.

"We want to deal with this (problem) and find some solutions," says Kantor, of law firm Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed.
