Mountain dwellers have a history of going their own way, and some of Denver-based Coldwell Banker Moore and Co.'s offices at higher altitudes may do just that.

In the wake of the residential real estate brokerage's purchase last year by giant NRT Inc. of New Jersey, some Coldwell Banker Moore offices in mountain communities are considering breaking away from NRT, according to informed sources. It's not known how many of the roughly 10 operations are looking at making that move; several managing brokers did not return phone calls to the Business Journal by press time.

Peter Niederman, Coldwell Banker Moore's chief operating officer, declined comment.
