Allen-Edmonds launches women's shoe line.

Allen-Edmonds Shoe Corp. is stepping into the world of women's shoes with a new line of eight classically styled fiats and a strategy to market them.

The Port Washington company's new line for women hits Wisconsin specialty retailers and department stores this week and will be on shelves in the rest of the world by the end of next week.

"There's so much enthusiasm from women for an Allen-Edmonds shoe," said Paul Stollenwerk, director of sales at Main e Shoe Inc, a division of Allen-Edmonds. "They know this collection of shoes represents that same level of quality and service (as the men's)."

The new shoes, which are labeled Maine Shoe, represent Allen-Edmonds' second attempt to expand beyond its core professional male buyer.
