Language brings context to data, but it's a work in progress

Imagine being in a room full of people, none of whom speaks the same language. Communication among members of this group would be difficult, if not impossible.

One way to overcome this barrier would be for all to agree to learn one of the many languages represented. But that may not be perceived as fair to those who have pride in their own language. Another way would be to create a language that could be understood by speakers of any of the members' languages.
