Feb. 9 -- BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Sweet Memphis-style barbecue. Smokey Texas-style. Spicy North Carolina. Take your pick from regional sauces at Red's Backwoods BBQ.
That's the idea behind Bruce Wunner's franchise restaurant concept that began in Boca Raton.
"People are passionate about their barbecue," said Wunner, who developed stores for McDonald's for 33 years before striking out on his own.
Wunner is hoping people will be passionate enough to expand his franchise nationwide.
If anyone has a chance to do it, Wunner has, said Tom Feltenstein, who has been a franchise consultant for Wendy's, Burger King, Subway and other franchises.
"Here's a guy who helped to grow the largest food chain in the world. He has his act together. He's surrounding himself with quality people on the outside as well as the inside," said Feltenstein, who now counts Red's among his clients.
