The Camcorders That Failed In The Marketplace
There are times in life when you have to cut your losses, like when I sold my new Philips N1700 video recorder to a good friend for a quarter of its original price. The machine was in perfect working order and still under warranty, but I could see the writing on the wall. Although the European electronic giant Philips had been producing home video recorders since 1972, by the late '70s two rivals from Japan had arrived on the scene. It didn't take me long to fall in love with Sony's Betamax video recorder and I was quite prepared to pay for this latest technological marvel.
