Anticipating what possible precedents could be set on Oscar night has become a bit of a science. Here, then, are a few conceivable angles Oscar scholars might watch out for:

* Like father, like daughter: If Jon Voight ("The General") and Angelina Jolie ("Playing by Heart") garner supporting noms, it would be the second time a father-daughter acting duo receiving Oscar bids in the same year. In 1981, Henry and Jane Fonda both got noms for 1981's "On Golden Pond."

* High times: Meryl Streep ("One True Thing," "Dancing at Lughnasa") is on course to receive an 11th nomination for acting. Currently, her 10 bids tie her with Bette Davis and Laurence Olivier. One more nomination would leave her even with Jack Nicholson, and one behind all-time acting nomination champ Katharine Hepburn. …
