Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc., (555 17th St., Suite 3310, Denver, CO 80202; Tel: 303/294-0750, Fax: 800/769-7205) has launched a waste handling system for a 3,960 finishing hog farm in Harnett County, North Carolina. The patented NMS systems treat animal wastes while producing a nutrient-rich soil product marketed as BionSoil. Wastewaters are also treated for reuse throughout the farm. The Harnett installation is the fourth hog farm to use the Bion NMS in North Carolina. Two additional North Carolina hog facilities have permit applications pending, bringing the total to seven Bion NMS systems in the state. This includes a 515-cow dairy in Iredell County.
