"I see it as caving into the inevitable," commented John Gallman, director of Indiana University Press. He was talking about his company's new distribution agreement essentially making Baker & Taylor its vendor of record in Europe as of January 1.

IUP used to ship its books from the Wiley warehouse in England but, increasingly, customers, who can now access domestic list prices through online booksellers, complained about paying a higher rate for the titles. B&T will warehouse the books in Momence, Ill, and, through arrangements with European distributors, ship to bookstores in about a week at the U.S. price.
