EEC Reports Power Industry Orders Soft.

Environmental Elements Corp. (3700 Koppers St., Baltimore, MD 21227- 1022; Tel: 410/368-7000) reports net income of $346,000 for its second fiscal quarter ending Sept. 30, compared to net income of $28,000 for the same period last year.

Sales increased 81% for the quarter to $20.8 million versus $11.5 million last year. Gross profit increased 32% for the quarter to $2.3 million versus $1.7 million last year. Gross profit margins, at 11.0% of sales, were below last year's 15.1% because of a higher proportion of sales from larger projects that have a lower percentage margin.
