U.S. Shoe strongly denies footwear units to be sold CINCINNATI -- Philip G. Barach, chairman of U.S. Shoe Corp., took the occasion of the completion of the sale of the company's J. Riggings menswear retailing division last week to strongly deny that the company's footwear divisions are for sale.

"The company has no plans to sell its branded wholesale and retail footwear divisions," Barach stated.

Barach seemed disturbed by recent rumors that U.S. Shoe's hot pursuit of women's apparel and optical retailing represents a turnoff of interest in footwear.
