Saba heads for market with new gadget, name

Saba Technologies Inc., a Beavertonbased startup with a gadget that automatically enters computer data from printed documents, has raised $4 million in new venture capital to take the product to market.

It's the second big cash influx for Saba, previously called I-Scan Corp. and founded as Sanscript Corp. in 1983 by a now-deposed management team. Last year, the company raised $3.5 million for its effort to develop a low-cost scanner that would transfer entire lines of words or numbers from printed pages to personal computers.
