PE funding and M&A activity in 2011 was very prominent but the level of activity was considerably less when compared to 2010. Private equity investments in the healthcare sector saw a steep decline in 2011, down to 20 percent from 2010. In 2010, nearly 25 private equity deals materialised worth $1.434 billion, the number fell drastically to just $350 Million in about 13 deals in 2011.
