Tg Bin power plant expansion on track.

KUALA LUMPUR: WORK on Malakoff Corp Bhd's RM6.5 billion Tanjung Bin coal-fired power plant expansion is on track, with the first concrete-pouring ceremony for the plant held yesterday.

On its completion in 2016, Tanjung Bin will strengthen its position as the largest coal-fired power plant in Southeast Asia.

Malakoff, a subsidiary of MMC Corp Bhd, said the new 1,000-megawatt (MW) power plant project would ramp up Tanjung Bin's current generating capacity to a total combined capacity of 3,100MW.

The new capacity was awarded to the company in June last year, following a competitive bidding process by the Energy Commission (EC), Malakoff said in a statement …
